"... a treasure for anyone connected with polo and illuminating for anyone who is not." Country Life

‘‘…. a remarkable book…’’ Après Magazine

‘‘ A fascinating new book …. It is a story of as much interest to lovers of this corner of West Sussex as to the player or polo enthusiast.’’ Hurlingham Magazine

‘‘The book is an absolute masterpiece. A comprehensive history of the club, yet an uncluttered and engaging read… Anyone who has a link with the club must surely buy the book.’’ PQ International Magazine

‘‘The book is essential reading for anyone who wants to learn more about the history of the sport in England, while also offering a pleasant stroll down memory lane for the more well-informed polo aficionado.’’ Polo Times

This beautifully illustrated limited edition book celebrates 100 years of polo at Cowdray Park – from the first chukkas played on the House Ground in 1910 when polo was very much a ‘gentleman’s sport’, to the present day where the Club hosts the country’s premier high goal tournament, featuring the world’s top international players, The Gold Cup.

The book will include a variety of amusing, witty, serious and risqué anecdotes and stories and feature a host of wonderful archive as well as contemporary images of polo, players, ponies, members of the Royal family, celebrities and parties.

The themes and topics include:

100 Year Timeline
The Cowdray Family
Players, Patrons and Dynasties
Royal Connections
Polo Ponies, Yards and Grounds
‘Behind the Scenes’– polo managers, commentators, umpires, grooms, groundsmen, vets and farriers
‘Off the Field’ – members, spectators, celebrities, sponsors, parties and asados
The Gold Cup
Tournaments and Trophies
International Links
Pony Club
