TMI Group plans prestigious book publishing programme during 2008

25 April 2008

Third Millennium Publishing (TMP) and James & James Publishers, the specialist imprints of the TMI Group, have announced plans to publish a number of highly illustrated heritage, military and corporate titles during 2008.

The University of Cambridge: an 800th Anniversary Portrait, is the most significant. This special commemorative 320 page book is edited by Peter Pagnamenta, one of Britain’s most distinguished TV documentary producers. A beautifully designed and produced hardback volume, it traces the University’s growth and development from its small beginnings to today’s eminence and tomorrow’s aspirations. The book features expert, informative and entertaining contributions from leading Cambridge figures of every generation, and offers a vibrant panorama of the past, present and future of a living community. Publication is scheduled for autumn 2008.

Other forthcoming Oxbridge titles include A Portrait of Gonville & Caius College, founded 660 years ago, and Keble: Past and Present, which came into being during the rise of the Oxford Movement in the mid-nineteenth century. Both titles will be published towards the latter part of 2008. Further university titles are also planned for next year.

Following on from the successful launch in 2006 of Durham Cathedral: Light of the North, TMP are publishing York Minster: A Living Legacy, the first highly illustrated book to celebrate the people who have made the Minster what it is, and the people who care and devote their time to it. Publication is planned for November 2008.

Over the last few years Third Millennium has expanded its military portfolio, with books on the Royal Hospital Chelsea, Sandhurst Royal Military Academy and The Royal Green Jackets. Earlier this month it launched Excellence in Action: A Portrait of the Guards, which includes a preface by Her Majesty the Queen. Later this year a book entitled The Royal Artillery Woolwich: A Celebration, will be published to commemorate the Gunners’ long association with Woolwich and life in their new headquarters in Larkhill, Wiltshire.

TMI Group has also developed an extensive list of titles for schools and during the year will be publishing books in association with Wellington College, Wells Cathedral School and Queen Anne’s School, Caversham, (under the Third Millennium Publishing imprint) and also titles for Badminton School, Portsmouth Grammar School, Emanuel School, Bacon’s College, St George’s College and Fettes College, (under the James & James imprint).

James & James is also a leading publisher of illustrated books on major companies and charitable organisations. During 2008 it will be publishing books on Arbuthnot Banking plc and Rathbone Brothers plc – both well-known financial institutions – Grosvenor House Hotel and Leonard Cheshire, the UK charity for disabled people.

Third Millennium Information Chairman, Julian Platt, said: “Despite the fact we are still a very young company, formed less than ten years ago, we now have an extensive publishing programme planned for this year, which culminates in the highly prestigious book celebrating the University of Cambridge’s 800th anniversary. This particular title is a real milestone for the Group and one which I hope will lead onto producing similar titles for other high profile international organisations.”
