Imagine yesterday ... today
Henrietta Van den Bergh & Helen Fickling - Garden Photographers’ Association
Foreword by Professor Sir Peter Crane FRS, Director, The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Imagine yesterday ... today is the third in the series of titles published in association with the successful Garden Photographers’ Association annual exhibition. The 2006 theme focuses on ‘Heritage’ and the accompanying exhibition forms an integral part of the Summer Festival being held at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (May – September). The exhibition then moves to Wakehurst Place, West Sussex, home of the Millennium Seed Bank, from November 2006 - February 2007.

This beautifully produced book features nearly 100 stunningly reproduced photographs based on four particular themes - Nature’s Garden; Nurtured Gardens; The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and other UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Each of the images explores the wealth of our environment and its diverse plant life from intimate details to wider views, with emotive imagery capturing the significant role our landscapes and gardens play in our cultural identity today.

The book also features an article entitled Heritage through a Lens by Tim Smit, CEO and Co-founder of the Eden Project.

The collection includes images from some of the world’s top award-winning professional photographers including Nicola Browne, Jonathan Buckley, Paul Debois, Richard Freestone, Charlie Hopkinson, Andrea Jones, Andrew Lawson, Nadia Mackenzie, Clive Nichols, Derek St Romaine and Carol Sharp.
