Third Millennium signs Cambridge 800th Anniversary Book
19 July 2006
Specialist independent London publisher Third Millennium Information Ltd announced this week that they have signed an agreement with Cambridge University Development Office to produce an integrated full-colour volume to celebrate Cambridge’s 800th anniversary in 2009.
The book will be edited by Cambridge graduate Peter Pagnamenta, formerly Head of BBC News and Current Affairs. The Editorial Advisory Board will be composed of a distinguished panel of Cambridge academics and graduates, chaired by Cambridge University Vice-Chancellor Professor Alison Richard.
TMI Chairman Julian Platt commented this week:
“This exciting news represents a major development in our work with leading Oxbridge colleges, universities and heritage bodies supported by our track record of high-quality publishing with UK and US museums and galleries. The Cambridge book will be offered via CAM magazine to 160,000 Cambridge alumni worldwide. As a Cambridge graduate myself, I am delighted that this volume is planned to be printed by Cambridge University Press, making it a wholly Cambridge enterprise. What we will deliver will not be a history book as such, but an illustrated panorama of academic life and experience in Cambridge over eight centuries, featuring the fantastic legacy of Cambridge architecture and treasures, and contributions from famous living Cambridge alumni. The whole will add up to a true portrait of a living community.”
Cambridge University Development Director Peter Agar states:
“We are very pleased to be working with TMI to produce a worthy celebration of the University’s 800th anniversary. We chose TMI because of its excellent track record in working with Cambridge Colleges and encouraging our alumni to become involved.”
Other recent and forthcoming TMI publications include Sandhurst: A Tradition of Leadership, The Hidden Hall: Portrait of Trinity Hall, Cambridge, The Lair of the Leopard (with the Francis Kyle Gallery), Imagine yesterday … today (winners of the Garden Photographer of the Year competition), Durham Cathedral: Light of the North (Autumn), Christ Church, Oxford: Portrait of the House (Autumn).
